Seagulls Luebeck Team Interview
Introduce your team briefly and your history with Formula Student
We, the Seagulls Luebeck, are the Formula Student Team of the Technische Hochschule Lübeck. Since our foundation in 2018, we are now in our 3rd racing season and want to go to FSN for the first time this season. Our goal is to finish with our SG-03 this year at least in the midfield of the overall standings and maybe also take one or more placement in the individual disciplines.

This year we would like to present for the first time a car with a complete aero package. Therefore we are very much looking forward to drive a new track with a new car and to expand our racing experience and showing our progress to other teams.

What are your main goals for this year?

Our main goals this year are our planning, the technical components that should work properly and thus allow us a longer test time for the car and the drivers. This should also make better lap times possible.

To achieve this, we see the FSN race as an early opportunity to prove and show our skills under new circumstances. Due to the proximity to our home town, this is almost like a home game for us.

What makes you different from the other teams?

What makes us different to others, is the great commitment in the team and the excessive novelties that we successfully put in our car every year. The cohesion and the free and open way of working, helps us to be able to give everyone in the team the tasks what they want to work on.

What is your most significant achievement in Formula Student so far?

Our biggest success so far was the 2nd place in the Cost Report, FSA 2021. We are very proud of this achievement and would like to build on it.
We are looking forward to this with confidence and convinced with the fact, that we will achieve our goals this season.

We are the first Ukrainian team.

Our mission is to give a rebirth to the Ukrainian motorsport culture!
Since founding we became an example to follow for other universities of Ukraine. The team help a lot of students to maturate in their branch. Student can study motorsport engineering as educational program in the university. It became possible thanking for students who were team members and decided to stay at the university.

Despite the war in our country we do not lose a hope to participate in educational competition to improve our engineer skills.

Tell us about your team’s history with Formula Student

Our team was founded in the 2011 year. Since then we built 6 cars and take part in 7 Formula Student events.

2013 – Formula Student Hungary

2014 – Formula Student Hungary

2015 – Formula Student (Great Britain)

2016 – Formula Student Italy

What does joining Formula Student Netherlands mean to you?

Joining FSN is very important for our team because it is only two Formula Student team in Ukraine and even if one them go to the competition it will have a lot of attention in mass media. But we could not participate in the competition in the two last year because of COVID situation in our country. It is even harder for us now but we believe that our participation will help to raise morale in Ukraine.

What are your main goals for this year?

Our main goal for this year is to come to the Netherlands.

What made you think of/choose FSN?

Our is always looking for the new place of the competition. The first reason is that we have never been in Netherland so we decided to change the situation, Other one is interesting registration quiz that was very interesting.

What makes you different from the other teams?

Our team color is a turquoise. Our surnames are alike to names.

What is your most significant achievement in Formula Student so far?

Our the most significant achievement is participant in Formula Student Great Britain. We took the 60th  place from 90 at the event.

38th place Cost and manufacturing event

69th place Engineering Design Report

44th place Presentation Event

Do you think there are any positive outcomes for the competition from the current situation?

The main goals for us is to improve our engineer skills. So if we participate in the competition, we will have positive outcomes.

What can the Formula Student organising bodies do to help the struggling teams due to the recent events?

It was nice that organizers accepted us for free on the competition. It will be enough for us if it will have a place to rest and food on the event.

Dynamics UPC Manresa Team Interview
Introduce your team briefly

Dynamics UPC Manresa is a humble team born in Manresa, near Barcelona, 6 years ago. Fueled by passion and with slightly over more than 30 future engineers, it is constantly working its way to the upper steps of the competition, trying to achieve it with the latest prototype, the DYN-06.

Tell us about your team’s history with Formula Student

The team’s history began in the summer of 2016, this being the first time the name Dynamics appeared in a competition, taking part at the Formula Student Spain event with the DYN-01, our very first car designed and built in less than a year (quite an achievement for a first-timer team). Since then, we have kept coming back each season to the FSN contest. In 2018 Dynamics went big; with the DYN-03 proving to be the best car to that date, we attended our first competition abroad, Formula Student Netherlands (FSN), and what a way; coming back home with a second overall position. Since then, the team has never stopped improving, not for a single year. 2021 was a bit of a heart-breaking moment for us as we came to the FSN event, but the car was not able to be rebuilt after the technical inspection. Nevertheless it was a sensational year for the team, as it was the first time the team attended 3 competitions in a single year. Thanks to the achievements both at Formula Student Spain and Formula Student Italy, we consolidated as the 3rd active team on a national basis.

What does joining Formula Student Netherlands mean to you?

A chance to revive the past, the redemption to come back and retake the place which has been waiting for us through the years and to deliver what we were not able last year.

What are your main goals for this year?

With the performance extracted from last year’s car, the desire of the whole team is to use all the potential which the DYN-06 brings to the competition.

What made you think of/choose FSN?

The fact that it would be our third time in this event, and the desire to nurse last year’s heartbreak.

What makes you different from the other teams?

Dynamics is a team with a very limited budget, nevertheless, it constantly finds the way, through an engineering point of view in order to match the performance of the top-most teams.

What is your most significant achievement in Formula Student so far?

One of the most remarkable milestones for Dynamics was when in 2018, in the Formula Student Netherlands event, it achieved the 2nd overall position in combustion vehicle class.

Do you think there are any positive outcomes for the competition from the current situation?

Last year was not easy with limited attendants to competition, nevertheless it was a very interesting situation, as team members had to overcome difficult situations with less help.

What can the Formula Student organising bodies do to help the struggling teams due to the recent events?

With the whole world recovering from worldwide terrible events, the competition could take into better consideration teams with difficulties so that they can stay in a competitive level.

Describe your car in three words.

Quick, Precise, Tuned
