UH Racing Team members

Introduce your team briefly.

UH Racing is comprised of 24 of the brightest minds from within the school of engineering at the University of Hertfordshire. UH Racing remains one of the UK’s most successful formula student teams and this year aims to build on the successes of previous teams and cars and bring home more silverware from the events of 2019.

Tell us about your team’s history with Formula Student.

UH Racing is one of the oldest and most innovative teams from the UK, having competed in every UK Formula Student event since its inception in 1998. In its 22 year history, UH Racing has won countless awards and built innovative cars, notably the very first Hydrogen and Electric cars back in 2006 and 2009 respectively. The team has gained momentum in more recent times with cars improving greatly year on year, evidenced by the team’s presence in the design finals at the FS UK event in the past 2 years. We aim to make this year no different.

What does joining Formula Student Netherlands mean to you?

Joining FS Netherlands is a place to hone and test our vehicle and team in competition specification before our home event at FS UK in the week after FSN. It gives the team a place to obtain yet more knowledge from talking to different teams, sponsors and judges from across Europe, something that we look forward to every year when we go to FS competitions. We will be trying our hardest the show our maturity in the competition and show a style of approach not often seen, and we look forward to what FSN has in store.

What are your main goals for this year?

Ensure strong finishes in all dynamic events.

What made you think of/choose FSN?

With the partnership formed between FSN and FSUK, its rearranged competition dates and its location to our home here in Hertfordshire, UK, the event became a no brainer.

What makes you different than the other teams?

UH Racing prides itself on its history and have been successful with a small budget and small team with big ambitions. Finding new ways to improve is our game.
