Tecnun eRacing Team Interview

Amira Tamam

Introduce your team briefly.
Tecnun eRacing is the Formula Student team of Tecnun-University of Navarra, located in Donostia-San Sebastián. The team was converted to fully EV in 2017 and since then is trying to achieve the success that it deserves. Currently, the team consists of around 60 team members.

Tell us about your team’s history with Formula Student.
The Formula Student started in Tecnun in 2009 when the first combustion car was manufactured and built by the team called Tecnun Motorsport. In 2011 the university put faith in the development of the first electric car when its team was created, Tecnun Seed Racing. After years of combining resources for both teams, Tecnun eRacing was founded from the fusion of previous CV and EV teams.

What does joining Formula Student Netherlands mean to you?
In 2019 Tecnun eRacing participated in FSN for the first time. Besides, the team did not obtain the results it wanted, we are looking forward to having good results in this year’s competition.

What are your main goals for this year?
Our main goal for this year is to do our best whichever is the results, obviously, it is very difficult to obtain the results of top teams but obviously, we want to pass scrutineering and finish all the dynamic events without problems.

What made you think of/choose FSN?
As mentioned before, we participated there in 2019 and part of the excellent event organization also gives us the opportunity to compete with the best teams in the world.

What makes you different from the other teams?
I think that our team characterizes because of the good relationship between all the team members. We are like a small family with a very strong bond and also we go in the same direction even if we find obstacles along the path.

What is your biggest achievement in Formula Student so far?
The team has not achieved big results in the competition yet, but we are sure that those results are not too far.

Describe your car in three words.
Passion, Sacrifice and Hope

How did COVID-19 affect your team and how did you deal with it?
The COVID-19 affected us when we were building the car for the 2019-2020 season, after that we cancelled that project and focused on the car for the next season. Because of the COVID-19 we were able to start the design of our car earlier and also helped us manufacture our first monocoque. It appears contradictory but after the lockdown in Spain, our team came to work stronger than ever.
