eForce Team Interview

Amira Tamam

  • Introduce your team briefly
Our team is from the Czech Republic and was founded in 2010. We have a workshop at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech technical university in Prague.

  • Tell us about your team’s history with Formula Student
We started our journey in 2010 when we started working on our first formula ever – FSE.01. After two years of development, we entered our first competitions and participated with a functional model. Since then, we have improved our cars each end of every year and participated in many FS competitions. Right now, we are finishing the works on our FSE.X (tenth monopost). However, some of them were significant — for example, the FSE.04x, where the x stands for first four-wheel drive technology. With the FSE.05, we have upgraded the space frame chassis into the CFRP monocoque. With the fourth model, we also tried the FS SAE competition in North America and won the USA and Canadian events.

  • What does joining Formula Student Netherlands mean to you?
For us, it is an exceptional opportunity to race among the best universities and in one of the most prestigious events in Europe. This way, we can test our innovations in challenging conditions to prove our work is worth it. Besides that, we are coming back after three years after a not very successful event, so this time we want to show our real strength.

  • What are your main goals for this year?
To go step by step and improve day by day. It is our first competition this year, so we want to prove and show the car’s reliability. Secondly, we are going there for a podium!

  • What made you think of/choose FSN?
The intention to improve our previous result and the desire to race as soon as possible!

  • What makes you different from other teams?
The camaraderie between our members. The active ones are like a family, and with our dedication and unity, we could attempt for the highest places.

  • What is your biggest achievement in Formula Student so far?
One of our greatest achievements would probably be that we were able to set up a working infrastructure throughout the years, where everyone has their place. We are successfully built the knowledge transfer system, so new members do not repeat the old mistakes. Apart from that, we are very proud of winning the American contests. FS West and FS North in 2016 or the FS Czech in 2018.

  • Describe your car in three words.
    Insanely fast casket

  • How did Covid-19 affect your team and how did you deal with it?
It has been a year like no other. Because of the restrictions, we could not get as many people to the workshop as we were hoping for, which significantly slowed the pace. However, we are never giving up on our dreams, so we adapted to the situation. The key provisions were online meeting and better team and work management.
