E-Motion Rennteam Aalen Team Interview

Amira Tamam

  • Introduce your team briefly.

We are the E-Motion Rennteam Aalen, made up of 40 students from a vast variety of subjects, with a shared passion for the formula student, which unites us all. Our team was founded in 2009 and while we have achieved great milestones in the past, we always thrive to constantly improve ourselves and progress as a team.

  • Tell us about your team’s history with Formula Student.

Our team has been competing in the FS since 2012 and has since then constructed 9 electric as well as 2 driverless cars. We, unfortunately, had to discontinue our driverless cars, as we had a shortage of team members at the time, so we chose to focus on the electric car.

  • What does joining Formula Student Netherlands mean to you?

We are thrilled to finally compete for the first time in the Formula Student Netherlands, especially after we heard so much good about it from other teams. The FS Netherlands is also significant for us, as it is the first event for us after two years, due to cancellations of last year’s events.

  • What are your main goals for this year?

When it comes to the competition our main goal is to build a well-functioning and competitive car that will measure up to the top of FSN.
Outside of that our most important goal is the fostering of our close in-team relations and getting the best students of our school to join us, in order to ensure our high standards for further seasons.

  • What made you think of/choose FSN?

As we said before, we heard so many good things coming from befriended teams about the FSN, so that we just had to attend the event and see for ourselves.

  • What makes you different from the other teams?

We like to see our team as a close family of friends with a unique sharing of our knowledge and expertise between our more senior and junior members.

  • What is your biggest achievement in Formula Student so far?

Our so fare biggest achievement was to get 1st place for our Cost Report in FS Italy 2019. With this most recent success back in mind, we are hungry for bigger achievements and can´t wait to compete in FSN.

  • Describe your car in three words.

  • How did COVID-19 affect your team and how did you deal with it?

Working in our workshop has been heavily restricted throughout the year and at many times diminished to the home office, which has obvious downsides when you want to construct a racing car. It has been difficult for us to overcome the lost time due to the restrictions, but with strong teamwork and firm focus, we have been able to come out on top.
