  • Introduce your team briefly.

UWE Formula Student is a team based in Bristol. We consist of over 60 members ranging from a variety of courses not just engineering. We also have a range of experience taking in everyone from foundation through to masters students.

  • Tell us about your team’s history with Formula Student.

UWE Formula Student has been running since 2012 where we entered Formula Student UK with a class 2 team. After two years of class 2 competitions, in 2014 we produced our first ever class 1 car. This year the UWEFS-VI will be the 6th car UWE Formula Student have produced.

  • What does joining Formula Student Netherlands mean to you?

Everyone in UWEFS is extremely excited about attending FSN. This will be the first time the team will take the car to a European event and compete in a second competition within a single event season. The track also looks to be quite exciting, which the drivers are particularly forward to trying out.

  • What are your main goals for this year?

The primary aim is to complete at events at the FSN competition. Competing at two events this year will allow us to compare ourselves to the top UK teams and therefore the main goal for UWEFS is to establish ourselves as one of the top 10 UK teams.

  • What made you think of/choose FSN?

One of the key elements which made us choose FSN was the timing of the event. It being just before FSUK works out perfectly for the team, this was then helped by the news that the FSN and FSUK events were collaborating which makes it even more beneficial for us.

  • What makes you different than the other teams?

We have worked with companies helping them to understand the latest technology. Our latest produced a 3D printed aluminium plenum.

  • What is your biggest achievement in Formula Student so far?

To date our biggest achievement was in 2016 which was the first year our car completed all dynamic events

  • Describe your car in three words.

It’s coming home!
